1/7/11 WHEN WE LOST THE TOUCH....
Posted By: Abdullah Chek Sahamat - July 01, 2011(Once, UMNO, PBB, USNO, Berjaya and many others, were the hope of the disadvantage. Today, there are still many of those, in different forms and fileds, that we didn't easily noticed, andt probably UMNO, PBB and the successful (while USNO and Berjaya, their graveyard were found no where) had lost track of them)
This morning, with some friends, I travelled up to Tg Malim to see the possibility of establishing a Banana Republic in Buntal. I have been longing thinking of doing such, but unfortunately, due to my lack of attention on the subject had caused so much delay and unhapiness among the population of the intended Banana Republic. I really feel sadden about the delay and hoping, I still have the strength and Allah help to realise the establishment of such a Republic.
(2) Driven in a nice Merz by a lovely beautiful friend, at the same time tailed by a nice sporty Volvo, the smooth road, and with the accompany of an ex-YB, political subject became our main discourse. We talked about the last SUPP defeat at the State PRU10, which to our conclusion is basically due to lost of grassroot touch by the party leadership.
(3) SUPP was once established because of the plight of the poor chinese, be they were farmers, petty traders, taxi operators, or even boat operators. Upon independence, they just want a cake out of the Independence State. Now, SUPP have bacame the Richmen Club. Yet, the Rich, on the other hand had forgotten to lend their hand to the smaller guys who are now facing some difficulty in their plight for a better lives.
(4) The problem of SUPP is not an isolated case, in fact the same issue was faced by MCA and GERAKAN. UMNO tailed very closely. USNO, Berjaya and PBS of Sabah are death due to the same issue. Now probably the PBB of Sarawak is slowly infused by the same disease.
(5) In fact our current political disatisfaction is all about, does everyone have the chance to make the better living. The target is better living not merely a living. History in fact have proven, in time of good, all seem to be satisfied, but once live becaming difficult, everybody seem to be the victim of everybody. Only a leader that is smart enough to detect the needed change and seriously willing to change will survive the test.
(6) Returning to the hotel, Vistana at Pekeliling, after a nice lunch business discussion at Shangrila Putra Jaya, I took a nice rest. Later woking up at 1800 hrs, I took a stroll along the Gombak River Bank downward. The nice line of red, pink, and pink-white Kemboja along the trail make my walk felt pleasant. The weather is breezy. The water is milky. I make lots of stop trying to catch the species of fishes seem to survived well in such a river. At one corner, I saw Buah Leletup or Kecepak, I picked some of the ripe fruits and took as I used to do in my kid days. Instead taste nice sweet, here they felt sweet-bitter. I wonder may be the heavy polution in KL have changed the taste. I also wonder, the rural bushes sweet leletup could change to bitter, how much bitter would all the lives in KL?
(7) Passingby under the crossway to the Pan Pacific area, I saw some leftover probably by the Population of Under the Bridge, whom had slept there the night before or even sometimes of their lives time. It seem the American Homeless Lifestyle is coming to Malaysia fast. Probably, 20 years from now, there would be a spread of this Population into Sarawak, if we are not sensitive to the coming hardship that disadvantage population are now facing especially in the urban area.
(8) Nice to see over the west bank, just behind the Yaohan Mall, lots of new condo are sprouting. The only, setback is that, all of them seem to turn their back toward the Gombak River. It seem the DBKL and the property developers have no faith in the possible Value Added of the Gombak River. They treated Gombak River as their backyard, which if they study hard about the Portland River in Oregon USA, they would be regretful for neglecting Allah gift over such an endowment. Portland river was once, much worst than the Gombak-Klang river.
(9) On my left ie the east side of the Walkway, I could see DBKL have done a half hearted landscaping works. Probably, without giving the soul to what they are doing, thus, I could see their efforts are not well appreciated. Rubbish and vendalism seem to be rampant. Street lighting being destroyed. Broken tiles not being replaced. Plants were not properly sellected or prunned. Lots of tony bougeinvilla swings long branches, if not properly observe would hurt passerby. Luckily, after walking almost half an hour down the trail, I was the only crazy person to take this route.
(10) I was eager to walk further down as I could see the Jln Ipoh-Sultan Ismail intersection not far ahead. Unfortunately, my walk had to be detoured into Lorong Tiong Nam 3, as the further downward trail was blocked by a barb fence. Far downward to Jln Sultan Ismail, the river bank seem bushy and unattended.
(11) Crossing into Lorong Tiong Nam 3, I have to passby the Alam Flora trucks parking area. The place was mud based with some rubbish dumping and burning area located nearby. I wonder, did Alam Flora know about this place, and to my guess, all these must be the work of their irrespossible truck drivers or operators or lack of management strigent supervision.
(12) Walking along Lorong Tiong Nam 3, to the east, I was amazed when I hit Jln Raja Laut, at the place where PAS Hq building is located. Along the way, two block behind that Jln Raja Laut, toward the Gombak River, actually are homes and business premises of the KL lower income group. These are merely tarrace of two to three storey old shophouses. Business in these enclaves seem to mati segan, hidup tak mahu. I enjoyed seeing some of the customers still behave just like those in Simunjan Bazaar in the 1960s; sloly sipping their coffee with hard car koi, except now they can enjoy flat tv.
(13) Taking Jln Raja Laut, I passedby the Sime Darby Tower at Jln Sultan Ismail. Later I walk over to Jln Tuanku Abdul Rahman, passing the Quality Inn and MARA Hq. At Pertama Complex I picked up some nice Indonesian CDs. As I walk, my mind keep thinking of the Gombak River Bank trail. I visualised, if the river bak is well treated, and being seen as a Silver Line in the heart of KL, I would believe, Gombak River would give KL a different strenght that other capital cities won't have.
(14) Just imagine, if the Gombak riverbank is being nicely treated, from Masjid Jamek at the confluence of Gombak-Klang right upward to the Istana Budaya, ahead of the Vistana Hotel, I could imagine, KL would just like Denver in Colorado that take the Plate River as it greatest attraction for it population to stroll and cycle along.
(15) As I passedby the Pertama, Sogo and the Masjid India alleys, I could see, lots of lower income group workers just leaving their work places and heading homes which I believe must be a distance away, my mind was actually trying to telephatically want to connect to Najib and Muhhyddin to walk with me and see how the land between Jln Raja Laut and the Gomab River could be redevloped into nice 1Malaysia Homes especially for those lower income wage earners and as well as young lower middle class of KL. This, I believe would ease traffic congestion in KL and most important, could aslo add variety to Kl to change the quiet night life of Jln Raja Laut and Jln Tuanku Abdul Rahman into an alternativge to the congested Jln Bukit Bintang. I hope DBKL development planners could see this as new frontier for KL and as well as a Model to turn Kg Baru into the real KL City Center.
(16) I then turned to Lorong Bonus, and to my amazing, at the foodcourts, with lots of milky and spicy Indian foods, the Malays in particular, seem to forget it is already almost late night that they still have high appetide for heavy food. I scanned all the tables, got no empty seats and half are filled up by obbess kids, women and men. Most are the Malays. Soon we will have another critic about the Malays: Kuat makan, malas jaga kesihatan!
(17) At one stall I picked up two books: Tun Perak and Tun Razak and Aminah the mother of Muhammad SAW. I then intended to cross to Jalan Pudu, but I felt a sharp pain in my chest, thus I waved for a taxi and head back to the hotel. Nonetheless, since to KL standard, the night is still young, I ten have Teh O Ais which is damp sweet. I aslo ordered Nasi Goreng Kampung and was very oily. I took just a bit of them to kill my gastric. I spent about half an hour to enjoy to the ear deafening Karaoke of the Malay Oddies and Dangdut at Medan Selera Damai.
(18) The two books later taken the whole of my night.
