XiangJang Park, Changsa, Hunan, China) If one travels to the rural Japan, Australia, New Zealand, America, Canada, and surely countries such as the Dutch, Sweden, German, etc as compare if one travels to say the rural India, Thailand, Philipines, or even Malaysia, one would see the great different on the Quality of Life (QoF) of the populance. I agreed, one would say, those former countries are classified as Developed while the later are Developing or Undeveloped. But, historically one should also be asking oneself, are those Developed Countries being populated later or earlier then those countries that are classified as Developing or Underdeveloped.
(2) What actually makes the different? The Nile (Egypt), Euraphrates (Iraq-Persia), Ganges (India), Yang Tze (China), and Andes (Chile-Argentina) were the earliest Civilization on earth. The First Civilised States! All are dated 3,000-4,000 years back or even more. Europe, North America, and South Pacific only come into great play only about less then 1,000 years ago, mostly only in 18th centuries. But why are they being so much Advanced as compared to the early Civilised States?
(3) My visit to big countries such as Australia, America, Canada, India, China and other smaller one such as Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Papua New Guinea and even extensively in Malaysia, what I could figure out is the seriousness of our system in trying to bring the best QoL among our people.
(4) In America, Canada, and Australia in particular, they are learning hard and fast from the mistakes of European in the 19th centuries. The negligence of the European Government to have great Plan to handle the influx of the rural population into the urban area during the Industrial Revolution and as well as the fast population growth had generated great social problem that later giving birth to the Socialist and Communism Ideology which greatly against the spirit of 'Free Life' that the masses of European enjoyed after the collapsed of the various Authoritarian Kingdoms.
(5) Thus America, in its early nation building have learnt fast from the mistakes of European, and Canada and Australia improved further from the mistakes of the American. So much so, development in Canada and Australia are much better than in America which are far more excellent than the European. On trhis account, one must also be mindfull of the way development had been 'enforced' in those countries. At the early stage, they used guns and canons to force in their development push especially in depriving the Natives. But as time past by, they enacted and enforced Laws and Regulations that made their Nation Building move fast and smooth. The influx of the White, had made them a mjority population, and thus under the pretext of Democracy, the White pushed on the Majority Vote onto the minority Natives. All these, I would say, was a Strategic Planned and Forced Democracy!
(6) Unfortunately, countries in Asian (except Israel, Japan, Taiwan, Korea and Singapore) and Africa have not move fast in changing their Development Approach in imparting greater QoL among their people. Asian and African, as of today, we are still endowed with great wealth that are greatly needed by the West and South. Being a much Advanced Nation, the West and South would love to keep Asian and African remaining poor and weak for greater exploitation for their best advantage. Thus Democracy and Human Right had been greatly used to slower our Advancement. And our politic, most of the time, we are traped in this Global Game of the West and South! In Sarawak, now our development seem have to slow down in respond to the Global call for us to observe: the Right of Native Land Owners, the Green Economy Movement, the Orang Utan and Orang Belada Right. All those, infact, have only one agenda: You Slow Down! We don't want you to catchup.!
(7) Measurement on QoL change with time. The basic concern would firstly having good access to Food, Shelter, Health Care, Clothing, and Safety and Security. But now apart from those five basic needs, today basic needs had broaden into Education and Skill Development, Utilities (Water, Electricity, Gas, and Broadcast and Telecommunication), Transportation and Mobility, Religious and Moral Development, and Leisure and Entertainment. latest element such as Environmental Protection and Individual and Minority Right had also tried to included into basic human needs. All these form the New Social Development Index and since long time had been voiced to be used as new benchmark to measure the Degree of Advancement Status of a Nation.
(8) During my short trip to China resecently, and recalling all those stories revealed by those who had visited China in 1970-1990s, almost all look down at the Counrty despite once, their ancestors had come from there. Basically most of them would not like to revisit China in its 1970-1990s state of development! The Country was in real great misery! In a very poor State of QoL.
(9) But this perception had totally changed. Now China (and even Vietnam) are 'playing couldn't careless' of the west call for Human Right and Environmental Protection. The Chinese Government just focus straight into the future of making China a Great Nation, a real Great Nation, not only big and powerful, but I believe they want their people to be United, Prosperous and Healthy.
(10) The Chinese government just tear off all those crouded, old, unhealthy housing areas, even if necessary at gun point. They just do what they have to do. What is important, the Live of the Future generation. If they have to sacrifice the Right, what ever right of the present generation for the good of the future generation, they just do it. They basically 'play dam' to all those 'disturbing' west! All over China, I believe, the Government are serious in building new Neighborhood System for the people.
(13) I strongly believe, now the Chinese government are forcing itself hard to rebuild the Housing Structure for her people and all those are with very simple objectives:
(a) Making all other basic infrastructures much cheaper, efficient, and cost-effective to manage: road, utilities, public services and amenities;
(b) Agglomeration of population creates all other supporting industries, thus sustaining the future national and people income growth;
(c) Quietly they are building Garden Cities without crying to the whole world on environment and sustainable development concept. They are building next resource of growth: Tourism and Services
(14) Chinese being Chinese, they kept their secret well, and that the reason why Muhammad had called on the Muslim to learn from them!
(15) Thus I would believe, Najib must have a strong will to push and sustain ahead, with serious greater Plan to rebuild our Neighborhood Development, a neighborhood, as a Muslim, I would love to see a semblance of the work of Muhammad on Medina and Mecca as a place of Living, A place of Work (Commercial), a Place of Socialisation, and most important a Place of Peace and Harmony (Moral and spiritual).
(16) Let not fear or even being decepted by the west, and or even the opposition. What important is to come up with good Plan and really make our people understand and participate in the Planning and thereon move on smoothly. If they bound to be some sacrifices to be made, let just be determined on these.
(17) One day, I hope to see at least in Sarawak, places such as Gersik-Bintawa in Kuching, Kg Masjid in Bintulu, or even Pulau Gaya in Kota Kinabalu, and Kampung Baru in the heart of the nation be reorganised and made them into a real Mecca of our future generation. I wish, I hope, and let help Najib to get to the dream.
(18) We have to focus to really bring in Good Quality odf Life to our people.
