After visiting the MPH at BB Plaza, with some books titled, Results That Last by Quit Studer, Swordless Samurai by Kitami Masao, and especially A Fine Line by Hartmut Esslinger an IT Architecture whom since 1960s had contributed alots in the IT Programming, I enjoy the Five Footwalk Live Band Performance at this BB Plaza Alley. In actual fact I wanted to get back to my hotel, but as usual, I have difficulty to look for the right exit, instead of taking east, I took the south exit which landed me here. I have Thai Coconut, my favorite drink, sitting alone while flipping the Fine Line. Infront of me, two young ladies, in black having Teh Tarik and Cool Mile High Cigaret which sometimes triggers my cough and make my chest feel a deep sharp pain (my heart may want to fail?). I'm surrouned by smokers. On my left, Arab youngsters, also smokng that I'm not sure, those in the 'glass jar thing'. On my right, Malay family with both smoking adults. At my back, groups of mixed adults, all four are smoking. What a smoking nite for me.
(2) Well, nice music, good books, nice beautiful people around, with the nice breezing KL nite....a rare occation to enjoy. I decided to test my body with this 'secondary smoking environment'. Surely the lady in blank...infront of me....invite me to stay longer. A beauty to appreciate!
(2) The Band firstly played Mencari Jodoh by Wali, then Hotel Carlifpornia, followed by my kid day favorite song: Kenangan Lalu by Flybait....not only flashing my kid days memories..but those nice painful memory of February to April of 2009, then Jamal top hit....keluhanku di rantauan, tak siapa mendengarkan, mungkin esok aku temui sinaran cinta suci....those are the few words that make me stay on.....with some pain in the chest both due to the smoke and those 'sharp words' from these street boys...(well I just want to test my heart...)
(3) But my mind had to be pool back, and I made myself thinking, in fact (flasing back at) yesterday nite scene, where I walked into the Hilton 'Pub' in Kuching......plus what I see tonight, our youngsters...what are they looking (searching) for.....looking around I see Malays, Chinese, Indian, Arab, Ang Mo, Mat/Minah Black...ahhh...macam-macam ada! This Band, they sing Malays, Indonesian, Chinese, Indian, Thai, English....n now Arab...Spanish....real creative, innovative, turn me fresh......yea they are not Hartmut Esslinger...these are just 'street boys'.....their creativity turned everybody silent...surely make them forget their today's issues (problems)....
(4) My mind wonder to issues at hand. I hope, I have an answer to some issues which keep mendling in my mind about our Malays Social Problem at Tupong to Bintawa. Could I be Hartmut Esslingger in innovative designing to resolve this 'productivity and image issues' among our 'first migrants settlements' of Kuching. I hope before I close my eyes, I could put my mind, heart, and hands to ensure 'these settlements' wouldn't be a reason which our grand kids, one day in the future would put a blame on us...which also might make them curse on our existence.....doing nothing for the 'best of our future community'....I hope, I pray...I have strenght, I have the chance to do something on this....
(5) I used to drive along this Villages with my boy and girl when they were very young (age 3-5 years old), pointing to them the nature of the Malays 'disadvantages', to show them the future (social handycaps) that they may be one day have to shoulder...in case I failed to do so or couldn't completed in my life time.
(6) Couple of days back, I was digging into some of my books on Urban and Neighborhood Planning, while trying hard to flash back the works of Muhammad in his early days to build Madinah and Mecca into those beautiful and peaceful Trading and Holy Cities. At MPH, I was looking for some more latest books on the subject, but my eyes landed on A Fine Line. I believe this book wouldn't make me sleep well tonight. I need a real Fine Line to the challenge in hand: redeveloping Tupong to Bintawa Corridor to SCORE these Malays Community dignity and their welbeing sustainability.
(6) Boy....the key singer...he speaks Sarawak Malay.....teasing a Sarawakian whom is sitting facing the band, also alone like me....a real talented 'street boy'....and the lady in black infront of me once a while throw me the sweet smiles...probably wondering what am I doing with this communicator...or just a sadaqah that I just keep returning.....but I believe my smiles are not as sweet as hers...since my mind is mixed up between appreciating her sweet smiles, her beauty, the beautiful 'sharp tearing' songs, and writing this article.
(7) Ya I got a meeting to attend early next day. I need to leave these great smiles. I paid for the drink. Two Thai Coconut cost me RM16.00. What a good income. I should have started a Thai Coconut Farm back in the Kampung. Each tree could give about 400-500 fruit in a year, then that would give me (at RM1.00/fruit) RM50.000/ha/yr. But just imagine if I cpould ship those to KL and get say RM3-5/fruit....
(8) I walk passed the crowd, taking the MayBank Corner, and there, another Five Footwalk Band...with, interesting, greater talented 'boys and girls' jumping, skading, dancing: with all sort of colored and various styles of hair cuts, in black with...I can't figure out the fashion sytles....surely...ah...I'm lost......those youngs...they really want everybody on the street have a 'feel high' of their exposure (girls)! Well the world is just keeps turning around, in probably the year 10,000BC, not only boys and girls are just like those, even the men and women are just all expose with 'interesting dressing styles'...

These talented young artist called the BB Band. The singer, Nazri was a friend of mine. Easily mix with the Sarawakian. The lead guitarist was a former guitarist from a band called Laksamana. Not our Laksmana club, of course. The bass player is from Sabah. Can't recalled his name. Thye played all night long from 8-12 a.m. with a minimum paid of RM 50 per night. Before this the owner of the restaurant gave them RM 30 per night (which is very low), but increase due the popularity of the band. Yup, the beverages and the foods are really expensive there. I once paid RM 5.50 for a glass of tea. Nazri, himself got a new band called "The Fly". They played various songs with various languages. Next time, try to request them to play "Have u ever seen the rain" from the Ramones, or a relaxing song from M. Nasir. Im sure u wont regret it. Enjoy!
