On last CNY, I was in KL. Since I can't get a flight back to Kuching after my various meetings, thought of wonderful wondering in KL for the weekend. After my Nasi Berlauk at a roadside stall behind Lot 10, I walked over to the Low Yatt Bldg, and hope to catch a cab there to go to Jln TAR. My journey begin at 0930 hrs on the 24.01.09
(1) Infront of the Federal Hotel, I talked over with the taximan, all of them demand RM10 to send me over to Jln TAR. I believe this is too much, and request him to run the meter, but he refused. It is not the money that matter, but, I'm concern of their honesty and courtesy....
(2) I decided just tomwalk down, and to my surprise, I reached Jln Pudy by 1000hrs. Talking photos of those beautiful trees along the Pudu Rd, and spending a bit of time at Pudu Raya. This is a place I used to lepak during my old student days (1980s). Not much changed there. Still that chaotic Pudu Raya. Next to the Pudu Raya complex,....well there is a building seem to be halfway under construction and abandoned. Must be part of the LRT system. I was wondering, Mahathir Mohamed (MM) seem don't bother to finish his job before he retired as the PM.....what an eyesore.
(3) By 1020hrs, I was at the lobby of MayBank HQ. Well done MayBank. At least the managment is concern about making thing beautiful and relaxing for the local. Nice landscape work surrounding the building. Definitely great if more such things being done in KL.
(4)At 1030 hrs, I was in Petaling Street. Really chinese flavor here. I believe, Kadir, the former Minister of Tourism had done good job here. Better orgnized. But, only people are more crazy here, shouting, waving......also cheating...a shoe with a price tag of RM90/pair...when I start to enquire, this must be the Vietnamese product, the vendor begin to offer the price for less then half (RM40).
(5)By 1045 hrs, I was at Daya Bumi. The first MM project when he took over as PM....a project that invite lots of criticism from within and outside the government cycle. This is a Project, which begin to attract me to this MM, determine, focus...he 'don't care' others views...but he knew what he is doing! ...unfortunately, the White nice building is poorly maintain...may be over shadowed now by KLCC twin tower....a sign that MM thought and struggle begin loosing ground?
(6)By 1100hrs I was at Pasar Seni. After walking for about three hours, I was looking around for a bench to sit. But there is none. People just sit around at the planter boxes...look like ayam kampung bertenggek atas dahan to me. Worst, the place smell shiit! People must be shiiting around all over these trees at nite probably....or is it DBKL way of getting free fertilizing from all these shiiting acts? Can't we have benches to sit around here? Make us more civilize...
(7)My intend going to Pasar Seni is basically to talk of my idea with some artists/cartoonists there. We need catchy idea to pullaway Msian liking of these junk fast foods, which not only are not healthy, but the profits(royalty) had been used partly to finance the killing of people world wide by the greedy Uncle Sam. I also believe, all these fast foods are slowly making our woman (young lady) to be lazy of going into the kitchen perparing foods just like our past mom/grand parent. Worst, these businesses also begin to dampen our creativity in promoting our local fast food industry...why is it we feel so licking good helping building foreign economy and yet neglecting ours?
(8)By 1152 hrs, I walked pass Padang Sultan Abd Samad. Tok Mat (former Minister of Information), your BIG JALUR GEMILANG is flying high. At least you did contributed to make Msian feel pround passingby this Big Flag....but that big screen TV...we missed your rounded Big Face!
(9)1200 hrs, I was at former Benteng, behind the HSBC/Bangkok Bank. I used to enjoy satay and kerang rebus here in the 1980s. Again, DBKL had done good job here. Cleaned up everything. From here, we can appreciate the beauty of Masjid Jamek, the confluent of Sg. Gombak and Sg. Kelang.....the milky water of these rivers (now moonsoon drain status) look 'nice'. But again, why not place some benches here for people to sit aropund and appreciate those beauties...especially for non-muslim to have close encounter with those Masjid Jamek activities...
(10)At 1230 hrs, proceeding at Jln TAR. Passing by this Coleseum...(thinking of having Hindustani movie), these nice crowded places....all these arcades, selling all sort of textiles. Jln TAR had now becoming more pedestrian friendly. The Padestrianways are great...except too less green, and not even a bench.
(11)At the back, Lorong Masjid India....superb, Isa Samad (former Minister of FT), despite lots of protest, you (and DBKL) managed to silent them off...and have your gut to clean up this area from drug and all those dirty characters....making this place for small traders to cari makan. I believe, if you have stayed longer as Minister of FT, surely places like Jln and Lorong Chow Kit/Hj Husein and those areas in Kampung Baru could be better organized...
(12) Kuala Lumpur, Our City, DBKL should learn more to green her. Concretization should be reduced...think of how to reduce immediate run off every time after heavy rain fall.....those pathway along the Kelang/Gombak river would be a nice bicycling tract...and the taxi driver, is there anywhere we can discipline them....they are part of our image and engine of growth....better deal with them now before they are too much.....
(13) Kuala Lumpur at CNY....I saw more Indian, Bangladeshy, African, Arab, Indonesian....then Msian. But, along the way, I also saw more and more desparate faces wanting to earn a living...foreigns and locals....our leaders, let get focus to put these people to work...make politic a working politic....I hate to see these hungry eyes...at any time they may get angry....and put you off the Parliment!
